It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shigeki Moriyama in North Ogden, Utah, born in Helper, Utah, who passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parent Taneto; his wife Mary; his grandson Brooks Petersen; his great grandchildren, Lucie Moriyama, Braeden Petersen, Ally Petersen and Gabe Petersen; and his siblings, Tomiko Moriyama, Hinako Moriyama, Kimiko Aoyagi (Jack), Mitsuru Moriyama (Lily), Sumie Watanabe (Shoji), Sueo Moriyama, Yoshiko Moriyama and Yumeko Moriyama.
He is survived by: his children, Jan Petersen (Jim) of Elwood, UT, Joel Moriyama (Carolyn) of Centerville, UT and Joni Nielsen (Steve) of Mesa, AZ; and his sister Jene Sakuda (Mikio). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
