He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva Sunderland and Octava Sunderland. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; and also, Melody Sunderland Rankin, Larry Sunderland (Debbie), Derreck Sunderland, Toni Engle Warner (Blair), Jim Engle (Jessica), JoLynn Engle Cook (Mark), Stacie Engle Brian (Mark) and Tom Sunderland (Tessa). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
