He was predeceased by: his former wife Melpha Houtz; his parents, Harold Whiting and Geneva Whiting; and his siblings, LiDell, Merrill, Ranae Hancock and VeLoy Gregson.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ruth Whiting; his sister Carolyn Smith; his children, Yvonne Whiting, Michael Whiting (Linda), Anthony Whiting (Merilynne), Sandra Kirby (Thomas), Jack Cluff (Rozanne), Steven Cluff (Page), Audree Merrell (Corey), Molly Peterson (Shawn), Autum Eisenbraun (Kyle) and Glen Cluff (Michelle); and his grandsons, Danny Tucker (Cheyenne) and Brandon Tucker (Jessie). He is also survived by grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
