He was predeceased by: his parents, LeLand Lovell and Lovina Lucille Millward Shumway; and his siblings, Von, Lovell, Mary Lou and Alene.

He is survived by: his wife Myrna Ann Petersen; and his sons, Val (Jodi), Alan (Barbara) and Kurt (Melissa). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
