He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Ashman and Florence Ashman; his sisters, Dorothy Fordham, Rosa Lee Robins and Lea Rose Ashman; his daughter Tayva Steele; his grandson Jayden Steele; his great grandchild Olivia Fountain; and his former wife LaMon Melville.
He is survived by: his son Jim; his wife Melody Sargent; his stepchildren, Teri Bowman (Mark), Todd Ashman (DeAnna), Tracy Schoepflin (William), Tyler Ashman (Tiffany), Jami Grames (Barry), Mickie Miller (Randy Egbert), Troy Lunceford (Mindy), Martin Lunceford (Margarita), Tricia Lunceford and Carl Michael Lunceford (Jessica); and his sisters, Virginia Llewellyn and Brenda Johnson. He is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
