He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, AlDean Washburn and Clara Washburn; his close friend Carolyn Adams; his children, Eliza, Ephraim, Seth, Esther, Isaac, Miriam, Bekah and Ammon; his wife Carolyn; his stepmother Luzon Washburn; his siblings, Ann Washburn Smith, Allen Broderick Washburn, Linda Washburn Wehner, Lynnette Eyres Christensen, Laurie Eyres Stone, Hugh Dean Washburn, Ruth Washburn Sulz, Todd Alan Eyres, Tracy D Eyres, Samuel Howard Washburn, Sarah Washburn Simpson, Joseph McKay Washburn, Daniel James Washburn, Andy Washburn and Cathleen Washburn Brown; and also Anna Adams. He was also cherished by his children, and 29 grandchildren.

“I have a vivid memory of Berk serving in the Toronto Temple. As a Stake Presidency we had a quarterly assignment to provide an initiatory team. Carl Pangerl, Berk and I would drive to the temple, perform our assignment, and then return home to Michigan. I remember how Carl and I had struggles with keeping the details of the ordinance correct. Berk, however, had perfect recall and never had to look at a card for support. He was always patient and good-humored. I miss them both.”
