He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Roberts and Marie Summers Hirst; his brother Michael Hirst; his son Bruce; and his daughter-in-law Nancy Hirst.
He is survived by: his wife Afton Daines Hirst; his children, Cathryn Peterson (Jerry) and Gary Hirst (Laurie); his sister Roxie Hancey (Lynn); his sister-in-law Carolyn Hirst; and his brother Bartley Hirst (Peggy). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
