As James departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though James may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy James leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmedding and Cleo Ellen Smiley; and his sister Suzie Barzacchini. He is survived by: his wife Kathy; and his children, Kara Schneck (Mark), Kyla Doyle (Buck), Kami Schmedding and Joseph Schmedding. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E Center St, Logan, UT 84321). A burial will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at the Logan City Cemetery.
His exceptional contributions to the sport were later recognized with his induction into the Weber State University Hall of Fame in 1993.
