He was predeceased by: his parents, Stacy D. Garn and Ada Lorraine Carlson; and his wife Joyce Garn. He is survived by: his children, Jeff Garn, Kevin Garn (Tanya), Michelle Maloney (Jack), Perri Knight (Melody), Randy Knight, Lori Sanders (Greg), Karen Kennington (Bart) and Cindy Bascom (Bill).
