He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred C. Atkinson and Della Schow Atkinson; his brothers, Stanley and Perry Atkinson; his stepson Craig Lowe; his son-in-law Ed Bowles; and his grandson Craig Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Ardys Atkinson; his children, Dawnita and Donald Atkinson (Wendy); his stepchildren, Candice Burns (Burke), Caron Bowles (late Ed) and Jill Larson (Neal); his stepdaughter-in-law Nancy Lowe (late Craig); and his siblings, Margie Powers, Dorothy Baird and Larry Atkinson. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
