It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darlene Broomhead Benard in Layton, Utah, who passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Streator and Velma Yates Broomhead (Thelma); her significant other Bud; her brother Keith; and her son-in-law Fred G Barnes.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Barnes Whipple (Bert), Karen Hart, Julie Randle (Russ), Blaine Benard (Kellie), Brad Benard (Cayla), Bryan Benard (Monique) and Kaye Benard; her brother Gordon Broomhead (Grace); and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Benard (late Lynn) and Helene Benard Clark (late Ray). She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Until a life-threatening bout of pneumonia four years ago, followed by the Covid pandemic the next year made them less frequent, Darlene planned and hosted monthly extended-family birthday celebrations, as well as Christmas Eve dinners, carrying on a tradition started by her own parents.
Darlene also modeled charity in a very Christlike way.
