He was predeceased by: his parents, Niels Peter Nielsen and Ella May Burr; his wife Erma; his son Larry; his grandsons, Robert and Lance Hess; and his siblings, Nelda Davenport, Lionel Nielsen, Darrel Nielsen, Elwood Nielsen, Norma Christensen, Ferris Nielsen, Dwight Nielsen, Van Nielsen, Weldon Nielsen, Eldon Nielsen, Rawlin Nielsen, Gale Nielsen and Marian Broadrick.
He is survived by: his close friend Rawlin; his children, Patricia Hess (Rod), Donna Carlson (Keith), Ann Robison (Greg), Shelly Fenner and Cynthia Nielsen; and his sister-in-law Karma Albrechtsen. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.
