He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Atkinson and Edna Atkinson; his siblings, Charles Atkinson, Edward Atkinson and Marie Blair; his brother-in-law Robert Maughan; and his nephew Raymond Peterson.

He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Ann Peterson (Mark), Lily Maughan, Shirley Nielsen, Heather Ferree (Josh) and Scott Atkinson (Tammy); and his siblings-in-law, LaNette Atkinson and Rick Blair. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
