He is survived by: his former wife Linda Lee Anderson; his wife Virginia Ann "Ginny" Brenk; his children, Kristina Louise Compton, Caprice Elizabeth Compton (John Cody Miller), Amanda Jane Compton and William Tyler Compton; and also, Chris Bernard, Kourtney Linn, Saydi Caprice, Cody Tanner, William Kjelsen, Reagan Elizabeth, Sydnie Mykin, Eve Addison, McKinley Tyler, Tate Travis, Carson Lee, Quincy Jane, Bo Bridger, Compton McGuire, Boston Ty, Robert Warren (Patty Compton), Charles Edward (Joy Ann Compton), Sandra Lynn (Troy Jones), Tamara Marie (Alex Fox), Annette Nicole (J. S. Schmidt), Jason Berg and Ashley Ann Deegan. He is also survived by 11 children, 32 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
