She was predeceased by: her parents, Violet Louise Waltemeyer and William Raymond Nielsen. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Rice; her children, Jill Griggs and Eddie Monahan; and her siblings, Donald Nielsen, Susan Thomas and Nancy Young. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
