He was predeceased by: his daughter Cathie Harrison; his sister Nancy Patterson; and his parents, Arndt Nicklas and Elnor Nicklas. He is survived by: his wife Myra; his children, Don and Cindy; and his brother Bruce. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
