She was predeceased by: her parents, Delta Howard (Brown) and Charles Neil Howard of Huntington, Utah.; and her brothers, Neil Erin Howard and Clarence Neil Howard. She is survived by: her husband Glenn McCoy Nelson; her sister Nancy Espanet (Howard); her children, Shawnee (Rob Cizik), Sherree and Steven (Catherine); her grandchildren, Shaffryn (Christy), Tiffany (Freddy), Elyse (Sean), Caitlin, Gage and Callum; and her great grandchildren, Eva and Maggie.

In accordance with recommended COVID-19 precautions, services are for immediate family and close friends only.

“I am very saddened to learn of Sylvia's passing. I deeply regret not keeping touch. Glenn & Sylvia (and the family) were so very kind to me. I will never forget my visits with them. Please forgive me for losing touch. Sylvia was such a spiritual inspiration to me. I have never and will never forget her! “As a new teacher in the fall of 1970, I was lucky to have Sylvia Nelson as a room mother that year. She was supportive of her own children and also all of the other children in the class. Her cheerful and happy, smiling face drew the kids into the activities. She also followed the class through the their school years. Shawnee, Sherree, and Steven I hope you know what a great mother you have. I appreciated her then and as she supported Steven & Richard in their friendship. Love, Larraine Snow”
