He is survived by: his wife Shonnie; his children, Jennifer Lee (Chris), Tracy Kinsey (Lynn), Melissa Hastings (Travis), Adrienne Jay (Wry), Wesley Bates, Arlin Bates and Nathan Bates (Carly); and his brother Arlin J Bates (Joyce). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
