He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton "Bud" Monks and Dolores "Dolly" Monks; and his brother Dan. He is survived by: his wife Janet Grant Monks; his children, Andrew (Lisa), Katharyn (Chris), Kristy, Kim (Jesse), Kiri (Nicholas) and Kylianne (Michael); his siblings, Larry (Peggy), Ron and Janice (Terry); and his siblings-in-law, Nancy, Gail, Susan (Rob), Christine (Mark), Jamie (Sarah) and Peggy. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, one great- granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
He treated everyone around him – friends and family, dignitaries and the indigent, co-workers and convicts – with compassion, kindness, and charity.
