He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. Checketts and Violet Perkins Checketts; and his sisters, Rita Painter (Clarence), Shirley Blair (Charlie) and Jewell Atwell (Gene).

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Lendall (Betty); his children, Christie Yates (Dwayne) of Newport, TN and Corey Checketts (Julie) of Castaic, CA; and his grandsons, Aiden and Cole Checketts. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
