He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolfo G. Ortega and Corina Maria Cisneros Ortega; his brothers, Amos and Felix; and his stepson David.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean; his stepchildren, Becky, Richard and Jon; and his siblings, Anna Mae, Elaine, Robert, Tom, Rudy and Gary. He is also survived by his children, his 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
