He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Colwell and Lucille Crabb; and his son Carlos. He is survived by: his wife Nelda Rasmussen; and his children, Brenda (Scott), David (Diane), Richard (Traci), Benjamin (Jlyn), Anthony, Patrick (Michelle), Danielle (Pat) and Rachel (Daniel). He is also survived by 72 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
