He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Richard Smith; and his stepson Jared Hanks. He is survived by: his mother Jeannette Ashton Hanks Smith; his children, Jackson (Cherise) and Jasmyne (Tim); his wife Debra Smith; his siblings, Douglas (RoJeanne), Shauna Hanna (Jim), Royal (Jennifer), Joseph (Judy), David (Tiffany) and Stacy Johnson (Jeremy); his stepchildren, Heather Barnes (Mike) and Laurel Morgan (Zach); and his grandchildren, Elder Nick Barnes, Anna, Mason, Beau Barnes, Olivia and Eliza Morgan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
