He was predeceased by: his father Robert Lawson; his sister Lisa; his parents-in-law, Darwin and Beth Hayes; and his brothers-in-law, Denny Edwards and Terry Hayes.

He is survived by: his mother Betty Lou Lawson; his sons, Troy, Arrin (Sharisse) and Baric (Andrea); his grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Justin, Devin, Alyssa, Dalton, Shalee, Megan, Dustin, Ryder and Sophie; his wife Darlyne Hayes; his sisters, Katy Edwards and Denise Bennett; and his siblings-in-law, Pam Hayes, Brent Hayes (Laurie) and Chuck Goode. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was awarded a 10 gallon pin for blood donations.
