He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence Hyrum and Laura Jane Metcalf Coates; his spouse Geneal Nola Larsen; his sons, Brent Coates (Joan), Dale Coates (Michele), Wes Coates (Billie) of Mayfield, Mark Coates (Delene) of Gunnison and Blake Coates (Nancy) of Preston, ID; his daughter-in-law Dana Coates of Aurora; his siblings, Mary Pavich of Murray, Boyd Coates (Wilma) of Aurora, Zada Gates (James) of Rocklin, CA and Clara Coates of Salt Lake; his siblings-in-law, Saundra Coates, Marge Coates, Darwood Larsen (Hilga) of Olympia, WA and Norman Larsen (June) of Highland; his son Neal Dee Coates; his siblings, Nola Coates Aston, Laura Fay Coates, Wyona Coates, Clyde Coates and Guy Coates; and his brother-in-law John Pavich. He was also cherished by 24 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
