He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon G. Petty and Laura Helen France; his siblings, Vern and LaRue; and his son Jared Ross.

He is survived by: his children, Provo, Merrill, Accounting, Lesli (Steven Gadd), Laura (Bret Hatch) and Marc (Colette Petty); his wife Carole Ann; and his son Milo Petty (Andrew McClain).
