Mary Yoshiye Sayama Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Yoshiye Sayama of Bountiful, Utah, born in Fresno, California, who passed away on June 15, 2023 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Kazuo Kishimoto and Izumi Kishimoto (Tomoshige); her husband Kazuo Sayama; and her siblings, Dick Kishimoto (Kiyomi) and Patty Kishimoto.
She is survived by: her children, Fred (Janet) of San Jose, CA, Julia Nagata (Dave) of Bountiful, UT, Elaine Endo (Stan), North and Lillian Stenquist (Clark) of Layton, UT; and her brother Tom Kishimoto (Eiko) of San Diego, CA.. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In 1942, President Roosevelt signed Executive order 9066 which authorized the forced removal of Japanese citizens living in west coast states to relocation centers further inland.
