He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel Hubert Thompson and Virginia Booth Thompson; his sister Velma Lynn Carter; his daughter Kellie Thompson; and his grandson Logan J. Burton.

He is survived by: his wife Pamela Mower Thompson; and his children, Jennifer Jones (Law), Christopher Thompson (Tiffany), Shara Anderson (Justin), Ann Brushier (Ray), Joclyn Laney (Bruce), Beth Calder (Kody), Michael Jones, Ryan Laney (Shari) and Morgan Cleverly (John). He is also survived by 25 grandkids.
