He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Olin and Mary Shumway Hanson; his former wife Beverly Winn; his son Bruce; and his brother-in-law Van Davis.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his brother Reed Hanson (Linda); and his daughters, Mardene Thayne (Royce), Charyn Amos (Mitch), Jamel Fox (Steve), Deidra Thueson (Steve), VaLynn Olive (Alan) and Laurae Simmons (Robert). He is also survived by family has 26 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
