Jacob Ryan Sobotka Heaps Obituary

Jacob Ryan Heaps aka Jake Sobotka Heaps, 34, of West Valley passed away on January 2nd 2020. After an ongoing battle with depression, he died by his own hand.

Jacob was born in American Fork, Utah on October 28th 1985. He attended American Fork High School and eventually earned his GED while staying at the Utah County Jail. Jake also attended some classes at SLCC.

His true passions were his girlfriend Tanna and her daughters Sage and Remi, and the Raiders football team. Jake was currently serving as the Utah chapter president of the 801 Knights of the Shield Booster Club. He was also passionate about dogs, specifically his Pitbull Alzado and his Schnorkie Georgia. He was still mourning the loss of Georgia when he passed. Jake was an avid fisherman and loved to take Tanna and the girls fishing. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and collecting the action figures like he did when he was a kid. He had a big personality and he always tried to make everyone laugh. He would do anything from dancing, singing, or doing accents to make us laugh. He was incredibly silly and sarcastic, and he had the biggest grin.

Jake’s usual occupation was in the labor/ construction fields. Most recently he worked for Jordan Valley Construction.

The family of Jake wishes to thank the American Fork 29th Ward, the Granger 15th ward, and the Warenski Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the American Fork 29th Ward, 455 East 300 North, American Fork. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.

He was predeceased by : his grandparents, George Clift and Janet Heaps. He is survived by : his significant other Tanna; his children of partner, Sage and Remi; his grandparents, Harvey and Bonnie Sobotka; his parents, David Heaps and Krista Heaps; his siblings, Meghan Gulbransen (Von), Mackenzie Salmond (Jared), Kaeli Thomas (Skyler) and Chris Heaps (Onix Blackwell); his nieces and nephews, Jayden, Sammual, Malakai, Luke, Elijah, Colt, Esmae, Abiagael, Irina, Tanna, Sage and Remington.
