He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Lavell and Ella V. Daley Hutchinson; his sons, Thomas Lee and Ben Jay; and his brother Russell.

He is survived by: his spouse Varo Christensen; his brother Quinn; and his children, Terry, Ted (Cindy), John (Sharon), Ann Fullerton (Baird), Gary, Dan (Anika) and Marci Larkin (Boyd). He is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
