He is survived by: his wife Alma Rosa Chapa; his children, Manuel Octavio Chapa (Lupita), Marla Garcia (Gerardo) and Gisela Chapa (Oscar Esquivel); his grandchildren, Franco Cortina (Jose Moreno), Emmanuel Chapa, America J. Aguilar, Gerardo Garcia Jr. Sahori Chapa, Alejandro Chapa and Ethan Chapa; his great grandchildren, Alexander J. Garcia and Jayden Garcia; and his siblings, Aurelio Chapa (Carmen), Eloy Chapa (Graciela), Jose Amando Chapa (Ruth), Melida Chapa and Lourdes Chapa. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
