He was predeceased by: his son Rodrigo Chapa; his grandson Rodrigo Chapa Jr.; his parents, Merced Chapa and Paulina Chapa; and his sisters, Minerva Rodriguez (Tomas) and Noemi Menchaca (Seferino).
He is survived by: his wife Maria E. Chapa; his children, Jose M. Chapa Jr., Cruz Chapa, Edelmiro Chapa (Elva), Dagoberto Chapa (Norma), Soraida Chapa and Blanca M. Cruz; his grandchildren, Victor A. Chapa (Yesenia), Alva M. Del Bosque (Armando), Marcos, Erick, Cruz Jr., Camila Chapa, Tracy Chapa, Jose E. Chapa, Dagoberto Jr. Chapa (Lily), Daniel C. Chapa, David J. Chapa, Bianca Y. Fernandez (Francisco), Gilbert E. Cruz Jr. and Bianira M. Cruz; and his great grandchildren, Victoria Chapa, Kaylee K. Del Bosque, Marcos Jr., Leah Chapa, Ethan Chapa, Santiago Fernandez and Rodrigo Chapa III. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
