He was predeceased by: his parents, Emiliano Vela Jr. and Ela B. Vela; and his brother Horacio Ariel Vela. He is survived by: his wife Karoline Vela; his children, Jaime Vela Jr. (Adriana), Monica Rodriguez (Jesus Franco) and Araceli Chitwood; his granddaughter Helga Elise Vela; his daughter Sofia Ivana Vela; his great grandchild Diego Gael Vela; his siblings, Rosa Garcia (Cesar), Juan Manuel Vela (Ofelia), Jose Emilio Vela (Maria Elena), Ramiro Orlando (Blanca), Emiliano Vela (Nilda) and Sandra Cruz (David); and his sister-in-law Sonia T. Vela. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
