He was predeceased by: his wife Beatriz Vargas; his son Jose Cutberto Vargas; his grandson Jorge Luis Vargas Jr. (Saul Vargas); his great grandchild Miranda Marie Vargas; and his siblings, Raul Garcia, Rogelio Vargas, Noe Vargas, Piedad Vargas, Manuela Ignacia Vargas and Aida Vargas.
He is survived by: his children, Jorge Luis Vargas, Joel Arnulfo Vargas, Mirtha B. Gonzalez (Luis L.), Refugio, Marisa E. Gonzalez (Jose J.), Maria Veronica Vargas and Mabel E. Vargas (Herman Guzman); and his grandchildren, Carlos A. Vargas, Natalie Vargas, Nayelie Vargas, Angeline Vargas, Layla M. Gonzalez, Leslie M. Gonzalez, Mayra Y. Hi, Jesus Hi Jr., Tadashi M. Hi, Jose J. Gonzalez, Kevin B. Gonzalez, Michelle Gonzalez, Adolio H. Gomez Jr., Maclovio H. Gomez, Roel I. Gomez, Landon E. Sanchez, Herman Guzman, Jocelyn V. Guzman and Jaelyn J. Guzman. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rose Garden Funeral Home (2102 US-83, Zapata, TX 78076). A vigil service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1610 Hidalgo Blvd, Zapata, TX 78076).
