He is survived by: his grandchildren, Lindsey and Lincoln; his wife Cheryl Ortiz; his children, April Shelton (Casey) and Gary Self (Dorian); his grandchildren, Chandler Kainer, Brayden Self and Brody Self; his siblings, Pete Ortiz (Sylvia), Johnny Ortiz, Joe Jr. Ortiz (Esmeralda), Michael Ortiz, Alice Perez (Rudy), Esther Corpus (Tony), Irma Ortiz, Yolanda Wollerman (Sean) and Amber Ortiz; and his siblings-in-law, Robin Chandler (Herbert), Diana Knight and Keith Chandler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church (1214 Zorn Rd, Yorktown, TX 78164). A rosary was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at the San Luis Catholic Cemetery.
