She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Vela and Tomasita Esparaza Vela; her brother Romaldo; and her nephew Eric Mendez. She is survived by: her siblings, Rose Ann Vela, Stella Myers, Maricela Vela, Esther Vela, Corina Vela, Christina Vela Davidson, Erminia Vela, Kimberly Jean Campbell, Rosendo Vela and Ralph Vela. She is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews.
