He was predeceased by : his parents, John Wenzel and Elsie Wenzel (Foyt); his wife Dorothy Wenzel (Hahn); his children, James Wenzel Jr. and Rose Marlin; and his siblings, Mildred Mae Luke, Mary Louise Wenzel and John Wenzel.

He is survived by : his daughters, Pat Chilek (Tom) of Yoakum, Doris McIntosh (Rob) of Von Ormy and Leigh Ann Whitenton (Patrick) of Beeville; and his brother Thomas Wenzel (Roberta) of Yoakum.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
