He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter Childress and Marvine Shoemaker Childress; his grandparents, Mac, Elizabeth Childress, Willis Bob and Zera Shoemaker; his aunt Fannie Howard; and his uncle Bobby Shoemaker.

He is survived by: his son Anthony Scott Childress; his wife Sherry Gurley Childress; his daughters, Olivia Michelle Childress of Wylie, Texas. and Kara Ann Childress of Wylie, Texas.; his siblings, Shari Childress of Anna and James Kevin Childress of Tyler, Texas.; and his aunts, Wanda Stewart and Cathy Bailey of Irving. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rev. Raymond Richardson of the Foundation of Life Church in Ennis, Texas will officiate.
