He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Elbert and Iradell Moore Powell; his sisters, Barbara Weaver, Darlene Brantley and Bertha Durr; his great grandchildren, Austin Powell and Skyler Powell; and his daughter-in-law Marie Powell.

He is survived by: his wife Beatrice "Tiny" Powell of Woodville; his sons, Ivan Powell (Karen) of Conroe, Terry Powell (Donna) of Vidor and Kevin Powell of Woodville; his siblings, Herman "Willie" Powell (Linva) of Woodville, Kenneth Powell (Debbie) of Woodville, Douglas Powell (Betty) of Woodville, Estelle Ling (Durwood) of Doucette, Linda Andrews of Fresno and Laqueta Johnson of Porter; his grandchildren, Justin Powell (Heather), Kris Powell (Mandi), Tiffany Ferguson (Robert), Kourtney Maxwell (Cory) and Morgan Powell; and his great grandchildren, Kendallynn Maxwell, Calvin Maxwell, Brody Miller, Kynlee Powell, Avery Powell, Dessia Ard, Brantley Ard, Case Ard, Jaxon Collins, Brayden Schuff and Kaylynn Schuff.
