He is survived by: his parents, Bill Oates and Sandra Cave; his cousin Adam; his daughter Kinsey Lynn Oates; his former wife Carrie Oates; his son Alex Herrera; his sister Angie Oates Yandell (Donnie); and his nephew Hunter Yandell.
The family is grateful for the condolences but declines flowers and donations.
