He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Poole and Willie Thomas Poole. He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, Jana Robertson of San Angelo, Leese Hurtt (Burt Hurtt) of Little Elm, Lisa Via (Jimmy Via) of Mt. Pleasant and Mark Ward (Jill) of Quitman; his siblings, Wilbur Roy Poole and Mary Coon; his nephew Tommy Coon; and his niece Jenny Lynn of Jena. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
