He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Bateman and Venus Bateman (McCoy); and his son Roger Bateman. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bateman; his children, Hal Bateman (Karen) and Suzanne Coe (Bill); his grandchildren, Lauren Coe Hindes (Daniel), Matthew Coe, Brent Bateman, Kayla Bateman, Lisa Dove, Mickie Jennings (Raymond) and Caleb King; his stepbrother J. L. Shelton; and his daughter-in-law Ava Huff. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
