He is survived by: his sons, Steve Merten of Wills Point, TX and Jim Merten (Belinda) of Wills Point, TX; and his grandchildren, Trevor William Merten, Shay Michael Merten, Grant Paul Merten, Ryann Elise Nabors, Kamrin Jaycee Merten and Chyler Jade Merten.
