He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Thompson and Dee Thompson; his daughter Alicia Pitts; and his siblings, Jerry Thompson, James Thompson, Bobby Thompson and Doris Spruill.
He is survived by: his wife Vivian Thompson; his children, Bobby (Jacki Thompson) of Grand Saline, John (Sophia Thompson) of Fairfield, Julia Thompson, Melissa and J. J. Sherbert of Kemp; and his siblings, Patricia Chaney of Athens and David Thompson. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
