He was predeceased by: his parents, Augusta Mae Pitts and Dawson Hilra Smitherman; his brother-in-law Clarence Pearce; and his nephew Larry Scott Smitherman. He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his father-in-law Orville Von Ehwegen; his children, Teresa Gayle Smitherman-Williamson (Danny) and Jeffery Bryan Smitherman (Veronda); his daughter-in-law Anna; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Paige Williamson-Bell (Jack), Stormie Danielle Williamson-Hebert (Brandon), Courtney Jane Smitherman-Hay (Robert), Lindsey Dianne Smitherman-Hailey (Khyle), Amber Dawn Smitherman-Lieberman (David) and Justin Smitherman (Mia); his great grandchildren, Marshall, Sylas Bell, Dawson, Denver, Zayden, Keegan, Nayeli Smitherman, Austyn Hailey Smitherman, Lukan, Ryann Lieberman and Ellie Gipson; and his sisters, Julia Pearce, Saleta Carolyn Steakley and Sharron Gonzalez (Tony).
