He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Eppel and Clara Cobb Eppel; and his daughter Christina Eppel. He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Yoder; and his children, Gina Reynen of Mitchell, Julie Eppel of Sioux Falls, Clara Eppel of Temple, Texas, Sharon Eppel of San Antonio, Texas and Gerald Eppel Jr. of Mitchell. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
