He was predeceased by: his parents, Andres Chavez and Antonia Chavez (Martinez); his wife Frances Caballero Chavez; his children, Timio and Victoria Chavez Gallaher; his siblings, Tony, Tim, Barney, Mike, Joe Chavez, Stella Chavez, Priscilla Alcala, Julia Broyles and Maria Teresa Alcala; and his half-brothers, Jesse, Andrew and John.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Chavez Reyes (John), Mary Esther Chavez-Stokes (George), Debra Chavez, Alzira Chavez (Hardy), Pete M. Chavez Jr. (Vickie), Tony Chavez Sr. and Manuel Chavez. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
