He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shanks and Elsie Shanks; and his siblings, Roy, Madge and Bernice.
He is survived by: his children, Clint Shanks (Leslie) and Dana Buchanan (Phillip); his grandchildren, Michael Shanks (Alicia), Amanda Young (Ben), TJ Steidl (Mandy) and Ashley Brookshire (TJ); his great grandchildren, Bryson, Eli, Isiah, Bella, Jaxen and Moriah; and the mother of his children Treva Spradley (Larry).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Lunn's Chapel (2812 Midwestern Pkwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76308).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or Texoma Christian Care Center - Alzheimer's and Dementia Care, organizations close to Johnny's heart.
