Sammie Black Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sammie Black of Whitney, Texas, who passed away on May 25, 2021 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucinda Alice and George Franklin McWhorter; her husband Jake O. Black of Amarillo, TX; her siblings, Ruth Collier, Marcella Cearlock, Joyce Ware Cobb and JB Smith; and her son-in-law Larry Bryant.

She is survived by: her children, Jake O. Black, Jr. (Karen) of Valley Mills, TX, David B. Black (Libbie) of Alba, TX, Randy Black (Rose) of Gholson, TX, Sherrian Bryant of Whitney, TX and Marilea Witte (Larry) of Waco, TX; and her grandchildren, Tonya Kelley, Dainen Bryant, Sean Black, Heath Witte, Stacie Black, Heather Raithel, Rachael Maxwell, Rebecca Black, Sarah Black, Jermy Black, Amy Briggs, Genny Busbice, Briana Bridger and Brett Castanon. She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren; and with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Sammie's favorite charity, St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
